The Bellarine Sunset Run will

 Changes to our event

FACE MASKS

The Bellarine Sunset Run will require all participants to wear a face mask when staging for the start of both the Active Feet Half Marathon and Port Phillip Ferries 10km. Our starting areas are tight and a 1.5m physical distance is unable to be achieved, once the event has been officially started participants will need to wear their face mask for the first 200m. At this point, you can remove your face mask and carry it for the remainder of your event to the Portarlington finish line.

We have deemed this necessary to reduce the risks of any transmissions associated with large groups of people unable to physically distance. Our timing system will have a start and finish mat to record your time, if you feel uncomfortable or anxious starting in close proximity to others you can wait and start your run after everyone else, an accurate time will still be recorded and official. The Active Feet Half Marathon has alternate start times for walkers and shufflers if that suits, to qualify for podiums you will need to be in the main start wave.

All participants travelling to the start of the Port Phillip Ferries 10km by bus will need to wear their mask on the bus.

As per Victoria’s COVIDsafe Summer Restrictions

FIELD SIZES

The Bully Buster 4km has been cancelled for 2021 to assist Event Management in focussing on putting on another stellar Flying Brick Bellarine Sunset Run focussing on the COVIDsafe Active Feet Half Marathon (350) and Port Phillip Ferries 10km (450). Under 1000 participants means the event can operate as a Tier 3 registered event.

AID STATIONS

The Sunset Team on each aid station will be the only people handling the hydration containers and taps so to reduce the amount of unnecessary handling. Our usual fruit and lollies will be removed from the Grassy Point boat ramp and Indented Head Yacht Club aid stations but will be available at the finish line for all participants and at the halfway point of the Active Feet Half Marathon, there will be a system to eliminate participants handling.

Aid station particulars will be listed in the Runner Info Pack.

BUSES

Buses weren’t originally part of the initial registrations with us playing the Covid-19 waiting game, they have since been reintroduced but will incur a $7 charge that can be added to your current registration. If you are having difficulty accessing your registration to edit please email info@bellarinesunsetrun.com and we will assist you with a booking. CLICK HERE

All bus travelers will be required to wear a mask for the 15 min trip to the Port Phillip Ferries start line at St Leonards.

FINISH LINE

The chute will remain the same and we will still allow kids to join their parents for the final 100m of their epic performance, As per every other year, common sense in giving way to faster finishers is appreciated.

We will miss the amazing children from the Portarlington Primary School in 2021 with no medals. There will be the same familiar layout with the same vendors and picnic blankets to unwind on or families to chill on while waiting for participants to finish.

No face masks required after the finish, we do want you to enjoy the atmosphere safely and enjoy Portarlington’s hospitality and charm.
